Bresnan’s request for federal stimulus funds is hazardous for Montana!
Let your voice be heard in Washington, D.C. and in Montana.
Urge decision makers to do oppose wasteful stimulus proposals to build broadband highways where they already exist.
The $70,000,000 Question: Why in the world should tax dollars be "awarded" to New York based Bresnan Communications to build nearly a 2,000 mile telecommunications highway across Montana when numerous data super highways already exist?
Applicants, such as Bresnan, have their hands out for millions of dollars of Federal Stimulus Funds for projects that will not extend broadband to remote unserved consumers. Instead they intend to cream-skim accounts including schools and health care providers off existing rural broadband networks, while turning aside the most remote consumers who lack broadband access.
Taxpayer dollars must not be used to fund overlaying broadband infrastructure where it already exists. Please contact the U.S. Dept of Commerce/National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) and the U.S. Dept of Agriculture/Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and urge them to deny Bresnan’s application and others like it.
